Another update, another huge number. According to the official twitter, the “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Train Arc” anime film is still the 3rd highest grossing film in Japan of all time. It mobilized over 17 million spectators and earned over ~23.3 billion yen (approximately ~$223 million USD) and is now even closer to the top. The film became the fifth highest-earning film of all time in Japan last week (after it surpassed Harry Potter). It also became the third highest-earning anime film of all time in Japan, behind only Spirited Away (~30.8 Billion Yen) and Your Name (~25.03 Billion Yen). What’s even more amazing is that it has only been 31 days since it released on October 16 of this year, yet the Demon Slayer revenue is already that high. Here’s another reminder of the latest visual for the movie:
They also recently announced new “freebies” to be given to the fans in theaters. They released the first on November 14. It’s a cool illustration given to a limited number of visitors, and there will be a new one every 2 weeks. We’ll see how those affect the sales in the following weeks! Its numbers in Japan are enough to place it high even on the worldwide gross list. Here’s the link to the last trailer to watch as we wait for the 2021 international release. (Care for potential spoilers even though it’s an official trailer.)
The Demon Slayer revenue is still going strong, so will probably have more record news soon!
