Disney+ has announced a new licensing agreement with Anime Ltd. that will bring more than 10 anime films to subscribers in the U.K. and France, with releases beginning later this year.
The collection includes several of anime’s most celebrated feature films, with many making their streaming debut in the two territories. Titles confirmed for the lineup include:
- Your Name.
- Weathering with You
- Belle
- Mirai
- The Girl Who Leapt Through Time
- Summer Wars
- Wolf Children
- Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence
- Perfect Blue
- Akira (U.K. and Ireland only)
- A Silent Voice (U.K. and Ireland only)
Several of Mamoru Hosoda’s films, including Belle, Mirai, Summer Wars, Wolf Children, and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, will be streaming in the U.K. and France for the first time. Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence and Weathering with You will also make their streaming debut in both countries.
The agreement adds works from some of anime’s most acclaimed filmmakers, including Makoto Shinkai, Mamoru Hosoda, Mamoru Oshii, Katsuhiro Otomo, Satoshi Kon, and Naoko Yamada, further expanding Disney+’s anime catalog in Europe.
Disney said the partnership reflects its continued investment in anime as demand for the medium grows across Europe, while Anime Ltd. described the collection as bringing together some of the industry’s strongest story-driven feature films for audiences in the U.K., Ireland, and France.
Individual streaming dates for each film will be announced at a later date.
