Lucasfilm has released the first full trailer for Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi, giving a new look at the upcoming anime series ahead of its August 5, 2026 premiere on Disney+ and Hulu.
The series expands the story first introduced in “The Ninth Jedi,” one of the most acclaimed episodes from the original Star Wars: Visions anthology. It marks the first time a Visions short has been developed into a full standalone series.
Created by Kenji Kamiyama, who wrote and directed the original short, The Ninth Jedi continues the story of Kara, the daughter of legendary lightsaber smith Juro, as the Jedi struggle to rebuild after the fall of the Order. You can watch the new trailer below.
The project was first announced during Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025, where Lucasfilm confirmed that the story would continue in two stages. Before the standalone series, a sequel short titled “The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope” debuted as part of Star Wars: Visions Volume 3, which premiered on October 29, 2025.
You can also watch the English dub version of the trailer.
