HoYoverse has revealed new details for Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.4, with the biggest highlight being the return of its Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works] collaboration. Launching its second phase on July 24, the crossover adds Rin Tohsaka and Gilgamesh as playable 5-star characters while continuing the special Holy Grail War storyline.
The collaboration’s new story chapter will have Rin Tohsaka arriving in Planarcadia after the Fifth Holy Grail War, where she borrows the Holy Grail from the Star Rail FEST exhibition in an attempt to return home. Instead, the world’s overflowing Wishpower restores the Grail and scatters the King of Heroes’ treasures across the planet, forcing the Trailblazer to team up with Rin and investigate a new Imagenae: Holy Grail War.
Rin joins the roster as a 5-star Quantum Erudition character who fights using magical gems, while Gilgamesh becomes a 5-star Lightning Destruction unit capable of unleashing his iconic Gate of Babylon and Enuma Elish attacks.
From the start of the collaboration until before Version 4.6 concludes, players will be able to claim either Gilgamesh or Archer for free, alongside upgrade materials. Both collaboration characters and their signature Light Cones will remain available long term after release, while spending 200 Star Rail Special Passes during Version 4.4 allows players to choose one of the collaboration’s limited 5-star Light Cones.
Besides the crossover, Version 4.4 launches on July 15 and continues Planarcadia’s main story as the Trailblazer confronts Lord Ravager Asat Pramad following the events of the previous chapter. The update also introduces Himeko • Nova, a new 5-star Fire Erudition character who pilots the mech Starblazer in combat, with her banner running throughout the entire version.
Additional content arriving in Version 4.4 includes returning Warp banners for Sparxie, Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae, Evernight, Cerydra, Anaxa, and Aventurine, along with a new outfit for Sparxie, new permanent gameplay updates, and multiple limited-time events. Players will also receive a free 10-pull by logging in after the update goes live.
Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.4, titled In Ravages Does the Whistle Sound, launches on July 15, with the second phase of the Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works] collaboration beginning on July 24.
