The Elusive Samurai Season 2 revealed the main trailer and opening theme song, along with a July 17 premiere date. The sequel was announced immediately after the first season ended in 2024, while the first visual was revealed last December.
Today’s announcement was made during Anime Expo 2026. Crunchyroll will stream the anime as part of its Summer 2026 lineup. The new trailer features the opening song “ONIGOTO” by Kento Nakajima. Check it out below.

The anime aired its first season from July 4 to October 6, 2024. Studio CloverWorks was also in charge of the animation, with Yuta Yamazaki as the director. The main voice cast consists of:
- Asaki Yuikawa as Tokiyuki Hojo
- Yuichi Nakamura as Yorishige Suwa
- Hinaki Yano as Shizuku
- Mari Hino as Kojiro
- Sayumi Suzushiro as Ayako
- Aoi Yuki as Genba Kazama
- Kikunosuke Toya as Fubuki
- Katsuyuki Konishi as Takauji Ashikaga
Yusei Matsui, also known as the creator of The Assassination Classroom, writes and draws The Elusive Samurai manga, which is serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shounen Jump. It began in 2021, and Viz Media licensed the series in English. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime.
The story follows the young Tokiyuki Hojo, whose family is betrayed by the enigmatic Takauji Ashikaga. As Ashikaga aims for domination, Tokiyuki finds shelter and guidance with Yorishige Suwa, a mysterious clairvoyant with the power to see the future. As Tokiyuki slowly grows into a leader capable of getting revenge, Yorishige helps him use the inborn evasiveness to gather a strong and loyal army.
