Persona 4: Revival will have all of the anime scenes in the game animated by studio MAPPA, as announced during Anime Expo 2026. ATLUS announced the game in June 2025, confirming that it will be arriving to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, Xbox Cloud, PlayStation 5, and Steam. It’s set to launch on February 18, 2027.

They said that the animation director played Persona 1 through Persona 4 before starting work on the animation. Abby Trott will voice Rise.

Though not officially designated as a “remake,” the upcoming release is a distinct reimagining of the original Persona 4. The official description:

Persona 4: Revival intertwines an investigation into a string of murders with the journey of self-discovery and encounters with the occult, all within a critically acclaimed, classic RPG experience—reborn in a new form!

In the rural Japanese town of Inaba, the once sleepy streets receive a cold wake-up call when a mysterious serial killer strikes. Also, what’s with the rumor of a mysterious TV channel appearing only on rainy nights? A whirlwind of surprises and otherworldly adventures will make the next year of your high school life anything but ordinary!

You can watch the revival broadcast video below.

Originally released in 2008 for PlayStation 2, Persona 4 is set in the quiet rural town of Inaba. The story follows a group of high school students who become involved in a chain of serial murders linked to a mysterious world inside television screens. The game combines turn-based combat with life simulation, social bonding, and psychological themes.

The new version is a remake separate from Persona 4 Golden, the enhanced edition of the original game currently available on Xbox, PC, and other platforms.

ATLUS and SEGA released Persona 5: The Phantom X, the latest title in the Persona 5 series, last year. It launched on June 26, 2025.
