Another idol love story is on the horizon. Jun Wakatsuki’s Promise Me the Spotlight (Watashi o Sentā ni Suru to Chikaimasuka?)is getting an anime adaptation. The anime’s production team released a visual alongside the adaptation announcement and launched an official website and X account. However, they did not reveal the anime’s studio, production cast, VAs, and premiere date.

Promise Me the Spotlight follows the love story of Koichi Okuta and Mizuki Natsuno.
Despite being a member of the popular idol unit Melty Strawberry, Mizuki-chan is still a background character. In fact, her popularity is so lacking that fans speculate she’ll leave the unit. However, Koichi Okuta doesn’t believe those rumors. After all, he knows that Mizuki-chan is the #1 idol in the universe! But the distance between idols and their fans is measured in astronomical units. But when Koichi’s dad surprises him with a speedy marriage, he inherits Mizuki-chan as a step-sister!
Now that they live together, Koichi uses the absurd opportunity to help Mizuki blossom as Melty Strawberry’s most popular idol. And to Koichi’s disbelief, Mizuki-chan promises to marry him if he succeeds!
Jun Watasuki authors and illustrates Promise Me the Spotlight. Kodansha’s Shonen Magazine Edge began serializing the manga in November 2022. When Kodansha discontinued Shonen Magazine Edge in October 2023, they moved the series to Magazine Pocket. Watashi o Sentā ni Suru to Chikaimasuka? currently has six published volumes.
K Manga publishes the series digitally in English. The English version of Promise Me the Spotlight is not published in print.
