BANANA FISH will begin streaming on Netflix in the United States on August 12 with exclusive new English and French dubs.
Netflix also revealed the main voice cast for both languages. Brandon McInnis will voice Ash Lynx in English, with Jonathan Tanigaki as Eiji Okumura. For the French dub, Sébastien Baulain will voice Ash, with Grégory Laisné as Eiji.
Based on the manga by Akimi Yoshida, BANANA FISH was animated by MAPPA and originally aired in 2018. The 24-episode series follows gang leader Ash Lynx as he investigates the mystery behind the phrase “Banana Fish” after meeting Japanese photographer’s assistant Eiji Okumura, drawing the two into a dangerous conspiracy involving organized crime and government secrets.
The Netflix release also follows a controversy related to the anime’s previous streaming. In late 2025, Amazon Prime Video briefly introduced AI-generated English and Spanish dubs for BANANA FISH, getting criticism from fans and voice actors over the use of artificial intelligence. Amazon later removed the AI English dub following the backlash.
