Laid-Back Camp and Mono Enter Hiatus Due to Afro’s Declining Health

Manga Time Kirara and Comic Fuz have simultaneously announced that Laid-Back Camp and mono will enter a hiatus due to Afro’s worsening health. The publishers attributed Afro’s declining health to the stress associated with managing multiple serializations. No publisher has commented on whether the Laid-Back Camp spin-off, Room Camp, will also go on hiatus.

Laid-Back Camp x mono Details

Afro debuted the Laid-Back Camp (Yuru Camp) manga in 2015 through Houbunsha’s Manga Time Kirara Forward. In 2019, Houbunsha transferred the manga to Comic Fuz. Currently,Yuru Camp has 18 volumes and is published in English by Yen Press. The series has been adapted into three TV anime seasons: the first two produced by C-Station, and the third by Studio 8bit. FuRyu Pictures will release the anime’s fourth season next year. Crunchyroll streams all seasons of Yuru Camp the Room Camp spin-off.

In 2021, Gemdrops released a VR game titled Laid-Back Camp: Virtual Camp. The manga also received a visual novel adaptation, Laid-Back Camp: Have a Nice Day!, developed by MAGES.

Afro’s mono (a 4-koma manga) originally debuted as a one-shot in May 2017 on Manga Time Kirara Miracle!. Following a positive reception, Houbunsha began serializing it in Manga Time Kirara Carat later that year. The series has since been compiled into five tankobon volumes, with Yen Press publishing the series in English.

Studio Soigne produced a mono anime in 2025. Crunchyroll streams the anime.

Both Yuru Camp and mono exist within the same universe, with characters occasionally making cameo appearances in each other. Yuru Camp is credited with sparking a camping boom and boosting tourism in Yamanashi Prefecture, where the story is set. The series has inspired numerous camping-related merchandise and collaborations.
