The official website for the upcoming Firefly Wedding anime unveiled a teaser trailer, the second teaser visual, as well as the main cast. The anime is directed by Takahiro Kamei (Urusei Yatsura [2022]) at studio David Production, with series composition supervised by Yuko Kakihara (Cells at Work!). Music production is handled by NOGRID, while character designs are provided by Yukiko Aikei (Your Lie in April). It will premiere in October 2026.
The teaser introduces the story’s premise featuring Satoko Kirigaya, desperate to redeem her worth in her family’s eyes after getting abducted by unknown men, makes a desperate marriage proposal to Shinpei Goto, a notorious assassin initially tasked with killing her after her abduction.
Satoko Kirigaya is voiced by Lynn, whose notable roles include Sakura Yamauchi in I Want to Eat Your Pancreas, Princess Hibana in Fire Force, and Columbina in Genshin Impact, while Shinpei Goto will be voiced by Koki Uchiyama, who is known as Kei Tsukishima in Haikyuu!! and Tomura Shigaraki in My Hero Academia, among many other roles. Uchiyama has also previously voiced Goto in the manga’s drama CD.
A second teaser visual was also revealed, showing the two main characters under a star-filled sky with soft yellow lights that resemble fireflies drifting around with Goto, covered in blood, kneeling on the ground looking up at Satoko.
Firefly Wedding is adapted from the manga of the same name written and illustrated by Oreco Tachibana. It was serialized on Shogakukan’s Ura Sunday website under the “Girl’s Club” label and on the MangaONE app from January 2023 to February 2026. An anime adaptation by David Production was announced in January 2026 and is scheduled to premiere in October 2026. VIZ Media is licensing the manga in English and describes the first volume, which we previously reviewed here, as:
On the surface, Satoko has it all—she’s beautiful, the daughter of a nobleman, and at a prime age for marriage. Unfortunately, she is also quite ill and only has a short time left to live. Before she can secure a marriage that will redeem her worth in her family’s eyes, she finds herself the target of the mysterious assassin Shinpei, and her plans are put in jeopardy. In order to save herself, she makes a desperate proposal—of marriage! When it comes to love, however, Shinpei takes “until death do we part” seriously.
