Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is getting a Season 3, scheduled to premiere in October 2027. It will cover the Golden Land Arc and a new visual was also released featuring Macht.

Studio MADHOUSE animated the first two seasons. Keiichiro Saito directed the first season while Tomoya Kitagawa was in charge of the second season’s direction. Tomohiro Suzuki handled the series composition, with Yuri Fujinaka, Keisuke Kojima, and Maru Takase on character designs. Evan Call composed the music for both seasons.  

The first season premiered in September 2024 and ran for 28 episodes. The anime was also a runner-up at our 2024 Anime of the Year Awards, narrowly losing out against The Dangers in My Heart Season 2. The second season debuted in January 2026 and has a total of 10 episodes, covering the Divine Revolte Arc.

Macht is known as the strongest member of the Demon King’s Seven Sages of Destruction, and you can see him in the teaser visual for the new season below.

The main voice cast for the anime includes:

  • Atsumi Tanezaki as Frieren
  • Kana Ichinose as Fern
  • Chiaki Kobayashi as Stark
  • Nobuhiko Okamoto as Himmel
  • Yoji Ueda as Eisen
  • Hiroki Tochi as Heiter

Crunchyroll is streaming the series and describes the anime as follows:
After the party of heroes defeated the Demon King, they restored peace to the land and returned to lives of solitude. Generations pass, and the elven mage Frieren comes face to face with humanity’s mortality. She takes on a new apprentice and promises to fulfill old friends’ dying wishes. Can an elven mind make peace with the nature of life and death? Frieren embarks on her quest to find out.

Kanehito Yamada writes the Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End manga, with illustrations from Tsukasa Abe. It has been serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday manga magazine since April 2020. The manga is available to read via Sunday Webry, Viz Media, and the Shogakukan Comic website.
