The upcoming GATE Season 2, titled GATE 2: Tides of Conflict revealed a new key visual. The anime premieres in 2027 and according to producer Hattori of Studio M2, the scripts for all the episodes were already complete in December 2025. The story will center on the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and will mostly take place at sea.

Gate (Jieitai Kano Chi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri) is a Japanese fantasy novel series written by Takumi Yanai, with illustrations by Daisuke Izuka and Kurojishi. It was first posted online between 2006 and 2009 on a site called Arcadia, before being picked up by publisher AlphaPolis in 2010.
A manga version, drawn by Satoru Sao, started in 2011, and it was followed by three spin-off manga in 2015. The story was later adapted into an anime series, with the first half airing in mid-2015 and the second half in early 2016. In North America, the anime is licensed by Sentai Filmworks.
