Gintama creator Hideaki Sorachi is starting a new manga titled 2-nen B-gumi Yusha Destroyers (Class 2-B Hero Destroyers) in Weekly Shonen Jump, beginning on April 20. This will be Sorachi’s first new serialized manga in about seven years since Gintama concluded in June 2019.

The launch is part of a three-week lineup of new series beginning in April. The first new title, Roku no Okashina Ie (Roku’s Strange House) by Mitsutoshi Nakamura, will begin in Issue #19 on April 6. Nakamura previously serialized Agravity Boys and Kurokuroku in the same magazine.

The second series, Natsu to Hotarukago (Summer and the Firefly Cage) by Masayoshi Sato, will start in Issue #20 on April 13. Sato previously serialized Momiji no Kisetsu in 2018.

Sorachi’s Class 2-B Hero Destroyers will follow as the third title in the lineup when it begins in Issue #21 on April 20. Color illustrations for all three new series were revealed alongside the announcement.

Sorachi, born May 25, 1979, debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump after receiving an honorable mention at the 71st Tenkaichi Manga Award for the one-shot Dandelion. He later launched Gintama in the magazine in December 2003, where it ran until June 2019. The series has surpassed 73 million copies in circulation and has been adapted into multiple anime seasons and live-action films.

Dandelion also has an upcoming anime adaptation, set to release in on Netflix on April 16. The series will have a total of 7 episodes, with studio NAZ in charge of the animation production.
