The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto) anime series released a preview of episode 19. The episode is titled “Chance or Something More” and it will air on Saturday, February 17.
After learning that Lakan is Maomao’s biological father, Jinshi becomes worried. Meanwhile, Maomao heard from Lihaku that the materials used for the upcoming ritual were stolen in the commotion the other day. In addition to Kounen, a high official who died from alcohol, Maomao felt that there was a strange connection between a series of incidents including the death of the person who was in charge of the ritual materials and a government official who collapsed from seaweed poisoning. Maomao decides to consult with Jinshi about them and re-investigate these incidents.

TOHO Animation and OML are in charge of The Apothecary Diaries anime series and its short mini-anime series. The short mini-anime series, Maomao’s Diaries (Maomao no Hitorigoto), features the main character, Maomao, as she explains the key items shown during the week’s current episode. Maomao’s Diaries is streaming on TOHO Animation’s official YouTube Channel.
The Apothecary Diaries anime is based on a light novel series written by Natsu Hyuga, illustrated by Toko Shino, and published by Shunfunotomo. It has inspired two manga adaptations: a manga adaptation by the same name written by Itsuki Nanao and illustrated by Nekokurage and an alternative manga adaptation, The Apothecary Diaries: The Palace Cloister Mystery-Solving Notebook of Maomao (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto: Maomao no Kokyu Nazotoki Techo) illustrated by Minoji Kurata. The manga adaptations were published by Square Enix and Shogakukan and serialized in Monthly GanGan and Sunday Gene-X, respectively.
The anime series is currently streaming on Netflix and Crunchyroll in select regions. Crunchyroll describes the plot as:
Maomao lived a peaceful life with her apothecary father. Until one day, she’s sold as a lowly servant to the emperor’s palace. But she wasn’t meant for a compliant life among royalty. So when imperial heirs fall ill, she decides to step in and find a cure! This catches the eye of Jinshi, a handsome palace official who promotes her.
