A Herbivorous Dragon of 5000 Years Gets Unfairly Villainized (Yowai 5000-nen no Soshoku Dragon, Iwarenaki Jaryu Nintei) is based on a Japanese light novel series written by Kaisei Enomoto and illustrated by Shugao. It was first published on Shosetsuka ni Naro from June 2017 to June 2020.
Kadokawa Shoten published three volumes from February 2018 to October 2019 under its Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint. It then received a manga adaptation with art by Koichi Muro. The manga was serialized under Square Enix’s Monthly Gangan Joker from January to November 2018.
The series follows the story of a 5000-year-old herbivorous dragon who was living peacefully. One day, a young girl shows up in his cave and offers herself as a sacrifice in order to gain favor from her village. The dragon decides to play along in order to get rid of the girl, despite having no knowledge of powers and demons. However, the dragon discovers that the girl is somewhat of a psychopath with extraordinary power. Their adventures together soon put an end to his rather peaceful life.
