Backflip!! anime is getting a movie, the official Twitter account for the series announced today. A teaser PV was also revealed.
Backflip (known as Bakuten) anime finished its 12-episode run on June 25th, 2021. Studio Zexcs animated the series, while studio Buemon helped with CGI. Backflip!! was also a part of Fuji TV’s noitaminA anime block, where it joined the ranks of popular titles such as Given and Promised Neverland.
The story is an original work and follows a team of male rhythmic gymnasts. Toshimasa Kuroyanagi and Seishirou Nagaya directed the anime, with Yuka Shibata on character designs. Toshizo Nemoto wrote the screenplay, while Yuki Hayashi composed the music.
Shinba Tsuchiya, Kaito Ishikawa, Hiro Shimono, Takashi Kondo, Daisuke Ono, Kaito Ishikawa, and Hiroshi Kamiya voice the main characters. In addition, Reina Ueda and Ayane Sakura are also starring in the series.
Crunchyroll licensed the Backflip anime and describes the plot as:
The final summer of middle school, Shotaro Futaba discovers boys gymnastics and is completely enamored by it. Shotaro ends up going to Soshukan Private High School (aka Ao High) and decides to visit the boys gymnastics club. He’s greeted by very unique senpais and a star gymnast named Misato Ryoya. Dedicating your life to something you love during your fiery days of youth… Of course, there is frustration, and fights, but see how these boys work together as a team towards a similar goal in this drama about sports and youth.
