The upcoming Backflip movie revealed a key visual, along with July 2022 release date and a new teaser trailer. The movie will be available in Japanese cinemas, but the international release date is still unknown. Studio Zexcs is animating the movie. Staff and cast listings are now available.

The movie was announced in June 2020, along with a teaser trailer. Toshimasa Kuroyanagi (The Great Passage) is directing, with Yuka Shibata as character designer. Yuka Hirama and Ogura Hiromasa are art directors for the work, while Yuuki Hayashi is composing the music.

The movie is part of the Backflip (known as Bakuten) franchise. Backflip is an original work, made into TV anime, manga, and a light novel series. The TV anime finished its 12-episode run on June 25th, 2021, while the light novel had 2 chapters in the same year. Manga adaptation by Kei Sakuraba is currently ongoing.
The final summer of middle school, Shotaro Futaba discovers boys gymnastics and is completely enamored by it. Shotaro ends up going to Soshukan Private High School (aka Ao High) and decides to visit the boys gymnastics club. He’s greeted by very unique senpais and a star gymnast named Misato Ryoya. Dedicating your life to something you love during your fiery days of youth… Of course, there is frustration, and fights, but see how these boys work together as a team towards a similar goal in this drama about sports and youth.
