Bones Studio Original Anime Metallic Rouge Set for January 2024

Studio BONES is working on a new original anime, titled Metallic Rouge. The anime is set to premiere in January 2024. As part of the announcement, a teaser trailer and visual has been released. According to the official website for the project, Metallic Rouge is described as a “tech-noir sci-fi series”, where humans and artificial intelligence beings coexist.

Motonobu Hori (Carole & Tuesday, Super Crooks) is directing the series, with Yutaka Izubuchi as the chief supervisor. Izubuchi is also working on the series composition. Meanwhile, Toshihiro Kawamoto is doing the character designs and Taisei Iwasaki is composing the music.

The official website describes the plot as:
The main character is an artificial girl named Rouge, who transforms herself and fights in this latest battle action work. She, together with her friend Naomi, is tasked with killing nine artificial creatures who are hostile to the government. The story of the battle of the synthetic girl, Rogue, begins.

This is not the first time Studio Bones has worked with original anime series. Some of these include Hiwou War Chronicles (2000), Wolf’s Rain (2004), Eureka Seven (2005), Ghost Slayers Ayashi (2006), Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 (2009), and Space Dandy (2014). More recent original anime works are Carole & Tuesday (2019), SK8 the Infinity (2021), and Godzilla Singular Point (2021).
