Bungo Stray Dogs: Beast Movie Reveals Visual and Trailer

The upcoming “Bungo Stray Dogs the Movie: Beast” released a new visual and trailer on the official website. The live-action movie is an adaption of Kafka Asagiri’s light novel with the same title. The movie begins screening on January 7, 2022, in Japan.

The visual shows Ryunosuke Akutagawa (Shohei Hashimoto) and Atsushi Nakajima (Yuki Torigoe) facing each other. Behind the pair are Sakunosuke Oda (Masashi Taniguchi) and Osamu Dazai (Rui Tabuchi) standing back-to-back. Check the full movie visual below:

The official website of “Bungo Stray Dogs the Movie: Beast” also announced the additional cast and character visuals. The cast members of the “Bungo Stray Dogs” stageplay will reprise their respective roles. The additional cast members are Mitsu Murata who will play as Tatsuhiko Shibusawa and Yuta Kishimoto as Fyodor D. Hirofumi Araki will also play as Ango Sakaguchi, and lastly, Keisuke Minami as the orphanage director.

Koichi Sakamoto is directing the movie. Taku Iwasaki is in charge of music, while GRANRODEO is performing the theme song titled “Clockwise Torque”. The band’s comments and the movie ticket details are available on the website.

Kafka Asagiri, the original author of the novel, is also the scriptwriter of the movie. The “what-if” story imagines Atsushi Nakajima as a Port Mafia member and Ryūnosuke Akutagawa as an Armed Detective Agency member. The reverse story follows Akutagawa who vows revenge to rescue his sister. However, just as he is about to starve to death, a man from the Armed Detective Agency appears.

The “Bungo Stray Dogs the Movie: Beast” trailer video is uploaded on Kadokawa’s official YouTube. As of writing, there are no English subtitles available. Watch the trailer below:

Incidentally, a fourth season of the “Bungo Stray Dogs” anime was also announced today.

Bungo Stray Dogs Franchise

Bungo Stray Dogs is based on a manga by Kafka Asagiri and Hirukawa35. Anime adaptation aired in Spring of 2016, with season 2 following in the Fall of the same year and season 3 in 2019. The franchise also has a movie titled Bungo Stray Dogs: Dead Apple, as well as an OVA Bungo Stray Dogs: Walking Alone from 2017.
