ClariS Performs Madoka Magica Opening on The First Take

The Japanese duo ClariS performed “Connect” on THE FIRST TAKE. The said song is the opening theme of the magical girl series Puella Magi Madoka Magica. This was the duo’s first time performing on the channel, which has already hosted a number of artists from Japan but also the world.

Song “Connect” was featured in Puella Magi Madoka Magica, a psychological series that tells the story of Madoka Kaname, who made a supernatural contract to become a magical girl, only to find out it has tragic consequences. The series premiered in January 2011 with 12 episodes and was produced by studio Shaft. “Connect” was composesd by Sho Watanabe, who wrote the lyrics. Atsushi Yuasa did the arrangement.

ClariS is a Japanese pop music duo that was formed in 2009 with singers Clara and Alice from Hokkaido. The following year, the duo signed with SME Records and released their debut single “Irony” in October 2010. ClariS’ music has been featured in anime series such as Eromanga Sensei, Oreimo, Nisemonogatari, Nisekoi, Lycoris Recoil, and Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story.

THE FIRST TAKE is a YouTube channel that shows various artists performing in one take. The channel has only one rule and that is artists need to perform their hearts out in a single take. Some of them include ReoNa, Yoasobi, Aimer, Masayuki Suzuki, Sora Amamiya, CHiCO with HoneyWorks, and Creepy Nuts.
