Classroom of the Elite Season 2 released a preview trailer and images for episode 10 along with the title and synopsis. The tenth episode is scheduled to air on September 5. The title is a quote from “Discorsi sopra la prima deca di Tito Livio (Discourses on Livy)” written by Italian political philosopher Niccolò di Bernardo dei Machiavelli: “Il popolo molte volte desidera la rovina sua ingannato da una falsa specie di bene,” which translates into “The people, deceived by a false kind of good, often desire their own ruin.“
The newly released preview images for the tenth episode show a new character who made appearance in the previous episode, Shiina Hiyori, the protagonist Kiyotaka Ayanokoji, Suzune Horikita, Kei Karuizawa, Haruka Hasebe, and Class-D’s teacher Sae Chabashira.
The previous episode depicted the results of Paper Shuffle and Suzune Horikita and Kikyo Kushida’s battle, and introduced a new character Hiyori Shiina. Starting with this episode, the anime is animating the light novel’s seventh volume of Year 1. The synopsis describes the next episode as follows:
As Christmas approaches, the students are restless and excited. Karuizawa is one of them and enjoying the city with the mood of the event. However, she realizes, that when spending time together with Sato after school, they are being followed by a Class-C student. And then, Ayanokoji is also observed during a study meeting…
The light novel’s author Shogo Kinugasa is writing scripts for the preview trailers, and this week’s video features Class-C students: “Ibuki-san, it seems Ryuen-kun has been working hard to find the mastermind,” Hiyori Shiina begins this week’s preview trailer by talking to Mio Ibuki of the same class and continues, “Have you been of help to him?” But Ibuki bluntly replies that she isn’t interested in it at all and changes the topic: “By the way, why do you always space out?” The question surprises Hiyori as she didn’t realize that about herself. The athletic student also mentions that it’s hard to tell what the quiet student has in mind. “What Ibuki-san has in mind is quite easy to tell,” Hiyori goes, “What? I’m poker-faced,” Ibuki goes. Hiyori denies it and tells her that everyone around should agree. “You serious?” Ibuki says, “Yes, rumor has it you are a woman who has developed her brain to muscle,” Hiyori adds, which makes her furious to the point where she asks who has spread the rumor and decides to smash the person. After she receives the answer “Well, people like Ishizaki-kun,” Ishizaki receives a blow with Ibuki’s shout. “And including me,” Hiyori reveals afterward alone. She says the episode’s title and concludes the video: “I hope you check the anime next week, too!“
