Colorido's Drifting Home Anime Film Gets New Trailer

Studio Colorido’s Drifting Home film released a new trailer ahead of its September 16 premiere. The film will debut worldwide on Netflix. A trailer and key visual for the film were first released in April this year.

Aside from the new trailer, two additional cast members have been announced:

  • Bin Shimada as Yasuji Kumagaya
  • Nana Mizuki as Satoko Tonai

Hiroyasu Ishida is directing the film, while Hayashi Mori and Hiroyasu Ishida are writing the screenplay. Akihiro Nagae is doing the character designs, with Fumi Kato’s assistance. Previously announced cast members are as follows:

  • Mutsumi Tamura as Kosuke Kumagaya
  • Asami Seto as Natsume Tonai
  • Ayumu Murase as Noppo
  • Daiki Yamashita as Yuzuru Tachibana
  • Yumiko Kobayashi as Taishi Koiwai
  • Inori Minase as Reina Haba
  • Kana Hanazawa as Juri Ando

Drifting Home is Studio Colorido’s third film, following Penguin Highway (2018) and A Whisker Away (2020). Netflix describes the plot as:
Sixth-graders Kosuke and Natsume grew up in the same apartment building as childhood friends. During summer break, while playing in the apartment building that is set to be demolished, they find themselves caught in a strange phenomenon. All they can see around them is a vast sea. Will Kosuke and the others make it back to their world? A journey of farewells in summer has just begun.
