On September 8, 2021, the official website for the TV anime adaptation of Dance Dance Danseur revealed its first key visual. The anime will premiere in 2022.
MAPPA will be producing the anime, with Munehisa Sakai (Zombie Land Saga) as director. Yoshimi Narita (My Senpai is Annoying) will be in charge of the series composition. Hitomi Hasegawa (Twittering Birds Never Fly: the Clouds Gather) will design the characters.
The Dance Dance Danseur TV anime will adapt George Asakura’s manga of the same name. The manga began serialization in Shogakukan’s seinen manga magazine Weekly Big Comic Spirits in September 2015. Additionally, the series is now up to its 21st volume, which will ship on September 10 this year. Dance Dance Danseur is Asakura’s first work to receive an anime adaptation. The mangaka also created such works as Drowning Love and Piece of Cake, the latter of which received a live-action adaptation in 2015. The plot of the series is described as follows:
Junpei Murao grows up with a fascination for ballet. However, when his father passes away during middle school, he decides he needs to become more ‘masculine’ and gives up his dancing dreams. He decides to take up the martial art of Jeet Kune Do and also becomes popular in his class. Then, a transfer student named Miyako Godai, whose mother teaches ballet, arrives in Junpei’s class. She invites Junpei to do ballet with her, and revives his passion for dance. (Synopsis via ANN, edited by AC)
