Date a Live IV (Season 4) Reveals New Trailer, Theme Songs and Cast, April 2022 Release Date

The upcoming Date a Live IV (Season 4) has received a new trailer that features the anime’s new opening song, and its release date is set for April 2022. This is the show’s fourth season, and it comes after several delays from 2021.

Miyu Tomita is performing the opening song titled “OveR”, while the title of the ending song is “SOS” by sweet ARMS. The new cast of the series includes Hitomi Nabatame as Nia Honjou and Akari Kageyama as Hoshimiya Rokuku. The new characters will serve the role of new spirits.

The new trailer for Date a Live IV (Season 4) is animated by GEEKTOYS, the studio that previously worked on a movie for the franchise, and the April 2022 release date means it is only a few months away. The series was originally set to air in October 2021 but was postponed to 2022.

Jun Nakagawa (High School Fleet) will be the one directing Date a Live IV, while studio GEEKTOYS (Date a Bullet) is animating it.

The first season of Date a Live premiered in Spring 2013, which had a total of 12 episodes. An OVA also aired in December of the same year. Season 2 aired in Spring 2014 and had a total of 10 episodes. Another OVA of the series also aired in December of the same year. The franchise returned in Winter 2019 for the third season of the series, which had a total of 12 episodes. Keitaro Motonaga (School Days) directed all of those three seasons. The franchise also had a movie titled Date A Live Movie: Mayuri Judgment under the same director, which premiered on Japanese theatres in 2015. It also received two more anime films in 2020 titled Date A Bullet: Dead or Bullet and Date A Bullet: Nightmare or Queen under director Nakagawa.

Date a Live was originally a Japanese light novel series written by Kōshi Tachibana with Tsunako as the illustrator. Fujimi Shobo published it from March 2011 until March 2020 and it had a total of 22 volumes available. The same author also wrote a light novel titled Date A Live Encore that includes short stories from the original series. Yuichiro Higashide is also currently writing a spin-off light novel series titled Date A Live Fragment: Date A Live Bullet with Kōshi Tachibana’s supervision. The same publisher is also serializing it and as of now, it has 7 volumes in circulation.
