Demon Slayer Nezuko Kamado Gets Birthday Illustration by Ufotable

The official Twitter account of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba posted a birthday illustration for Nezuko Kamado on December 28, newly drawn by the studio ufotable. Early in the day, a special trailer was released for Nezuko using scenes from the manga.

The new visual features Nezuko Kamado’s brother Tanjiro Kamado, his friends Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira celebrating Nezuko’s birthday. Kito Akari (Suzune Horikita in Classroom of the Elite and Kanata Konoe in the Love Live! franchise) is voicing the character in the anime adaptation and quote-tweeted the visual post with a birthday wish: “Nezuko, Happy Birthday ☺️🤍🎉✨”

Demon SlayerKimetsu no Yaiba is a shonen manga series serialized by Koyoharu Gotoge in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020. It ended with a total of 23 volumes, which surpassed 150 million circulating copies. The manga inspired anime adaptation by ufotable; the first season (Tanjiro Kamado Unwavering Resolve Arc) aired from April to September 2019 with a total of 26 episodes. Mugen Train arc was first published as a movie and then later adapted into TV anime which aired from October to November 2021 with 7 episodes. This was directly followed by the Entertainment District arc, which aired from December 21 to February 2022 with 11 episodes. The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Mugen Train movie premiered in 2020 and broke the record of Japan’s highest-grossing film of all time. The anime’s Swordsmith Village Arc is currently in production and the premiere date is set for April 2023. Sanemi Shinazugawa, the Wind Hashira, received a birthday visual from the studio on November 29.

Viz Media licensed the manga for English releases and published all 23 volumes. The official website describes the plot of the debut volume as:
Learning to destroy demons won’t be easy, and Tanjiro barely knows where to start. The surprise appearance of another boy named Giyu, who seems to know what’s going on, might provide some answers—but only if Tanjiro can stop Giyu from killing his sister first!
