The Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero topped the box office during its opening weekend in North America. The movie is estimated to have surpassed the $20M. The opening weekend alone will mark it as the 6th best earning anime movie in the US box-office history and is the widest theatrical release ever for Crunchyroll. The movie opened in the United States and Canada on August 19, with 3,007 theaters screening it. It is available in both subtitled and dubbed versions. Crunchyroll, alongside Sony Pictures, is distributing the movie globally starting this August. Additional global release dates are to be announced soon.
Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero opened in Japan on June 11, and earned around 670 million Japanese Yen (≒4.93 million USD) during the two-day weekend opening, and 1.9 billion Japanese Yen earnings (≒14 million United States Dollars) in the first four weeks. Toei Company, the main shareholder of Toei Animation studio, has warned against releasing pirated versions of the movie online.
