Gintama anime series released a key visual for the series’ upcoming event titled “Gintama 2023 (Kari)”. The event is scheduled to take place on March 19, 2023, at Ryogoku Kokugikan Arena. The series held the same kind of events there 6 times in the past, in 2010, 2011, 2013, 2016, 2017, and 2019.
The newly-released Gintama event visual shows the members of Yorozuya at the front center, Shinpachi Shimura, Kagura, Sadaharu, and Gintoki Sakata. All of them but Gintoki are showing a piece. Behind them are three people of the Joishishi faction on the left, Shinsuke Takasugi, Kotaro Katsura, and Elizabeth with a usual pose. Next to them stay three leaders of Shinsengumi, Sogo Okita, Toshiro Hijikata, and Isao Kondo. In the background can be seen cherry trees in full bloom in Ryogikan Kokugikan Arena. The event is being held under the “Let’s go together beyond the other side of the final!”motto.
Hideaki Sorachi serialized the Gintama manga series in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from January 2004 to June 2019 with a total of 77 volumes. The series inspired multiple anime adaptations including films. Sunrise animated the first two seasons along with Gintama: The Movie (2010) and Gintama: The Movie: The Final Chapter: Be Forever Yorozuya (2013). BN Pictures animated the rest of the anime adaptations including Gintama: The Very Final (2021).
Viz Media licensed the manga for English releases and published the 23rd volume on August 2, 2011. The official website describes the plot of volume 1 as:
Nobody with Naturally Wavy Hair Can Be That Bad
Sleazy alien moneylenders, monsters on the rampage, and a ticking time bomb may all be in a day’s work for Gin, but a drop in his blood sugar level means trouble for everyone!
