Episode 1 of the Harem in the Labyrinth of Another World is finally out. The anime ranked 12th in our Most Anticipated Summer 2022 anime poll, and the fact that this is an isekai and a harem might explain the fairly decent result. Labyrinth is airing in 3 versions – censored, semi-censored and uncensored, and that always helps catch the attention of certain anime viewers, myself included.
It is common for isekai anime to have an overpowered protagonist because they often have unique skills. In this show, Michio, who is the main character, can obtain different skills just by doing something related to that particular skill. He was a gamer when he was still on Earth, which explains why he knows how to level up and how to live as the protagonist of a game.
A battle that occurred in episode 1 of Harem in the Labyrinth of Another World was quite important because it showcased Michio’s strength. With this, the story will be able to have a strong build-up and the viewers will look forward to what he can do in the future. Although I didn’t expect the scenes that were shown in the battle. The fight scenes were bloody and not at all censored. Similar to Skeleton Knight in Another World from the last season, Labyrinth didn’t hold back the bloody fights.
Crunchyroll is streaming the anime, and the only available version is the censored one. In fact, the only censored scenes are the ones of erotic nature and the censorship in them is quite original. Since the story has video game-like elements, censorship also utilizes them. You’ll see what is common in some names – symbols and shapes blocking the view of explicit content.
The last anime that was need to be censored on Crunchyroll is World’s End Harem, in which some scenes were full of black bars to the point that you couldn’t see anything on your screen, and it ruined the experience for many viewers. It’s a good thing that the Harem in the Labyrinth of Another World didn’t turn out like that, as this version is at least fun in a way. Sadly, the uncensored version is only broadcasting in Japan at the moment, so we will have to assume what is hiding behind the creative little pop ups.
Overall, the series is something to look forward to, both in animation and the story. The episode ended with the protagonist having a clear goal in mind, and that is to obtain a slave named Roxanne, who seems to have captured his heart at first sight. It looks like it will be the reason why his life inside a labyrinth will begin. Episode 2 of the series will be released on July 13 and will be available on Crunchyroll.
