Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku Anime To Premiere in 2023

Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku anime will premiere in 2023, as announced earlier today by Crunchyroll. The streaming platform included the MAPPA-animated series in its 2023 lineup, but the exact date is still unknown. The last update on the Hell’s Paradise anime was in December of last year, during the Jump Festa 2022 when the trailer was revealed along with a teaser visual.

The staff for the anime includes Kaori Makita as the director, Koji Hisaki as the character designer, and Yoshiaki Dewa as the music composer. Akira Kindaichi will be in charge of the series composition. The cast hasn’t been revealed. At the moment, the official website of the Hell’s Paradise anime has no information about the premiere.

The anime is based on the Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku manga by Yuji Kaku, which has been serialized from 2018 to 2021 in the Shonen Jump Plus online magazine. Shihei Lin, known for his work on Chainsaw Man and Spy x Family manga, was the editor. Viz Media licensed the manga in English.

Crunchyroll will be streaming the anime worldwide (with the exception of Asia). The streaming platform describes the plot as:
The Edo period is nearing its end. Gabimaru, a shinobi formerly known as the strongest in Iwagakure who is now a death row convict, is told that he will be acquitted and set free if he can bring back the Elixir of Life from an island that is rumored to be the Buddhist pure land Sukhavati. In hopes of reuniting with his beloved wife, Gabimaru heads to the island along with the executioner Yamada Asaemon Sagiri. Upon arriving there, they encounter other death row convicts in search of the Elixir of Life… as well as a host of unknown creatures, eerie manmade statues, and the hermits who rule the island. Can Gabimaru find the Elixir of Life on this mysterious island and make it back home alive?
