The Henjin no Salad Bowl (A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics) anime website has revealed a release date of April 4, 2024, alongside the main trailer, additional cast, and opening and ending theme song information. Wanuka will perform the opening “Gifu ni Teddo,” (Gifted) while Meiyo Densetsu will perform the ending theme, “Konban no Kenka” (Tonight’s Battle). Joining the previously announced Henjin no Salad Bowl cast is Yoji Ueda as the character Isao Kusanagi, Shinnosuke Tachibana as Takeo, and Kohsuke Toriumi as Suzuki. Character descriptions were also provided:
Isao: 54 years old. Director of the largest detective agency in Gifu City. He takes on illegal jobs to make money.
Takeo: A thug in Gifu. He often offers Livia shady jobs.
Suzuki: A homeless man of unknown age who lives under a bridge. He is gruff but kind and teaches Livia the basics of homelessness.
Henjin no Salad Bowl started as a light novel series by Yomi Hirasaka (Haganai, A Sister’s All You Need) in 2021 and has been published across six volumes in Shogakukan’s Gagaga Bunko. The series was adapted into a manga series in Shogakukan’s Sunday Webry with illustrations by Kotaro Yamada. Masafumi Sato directs the anime series, with the screenplay by Hirasaka and Kenichi Yamashita. SynergySP and Studio Comet are animating the series.
Neither the Henjin no Salad Bowl manga nor the light novel has been licensed in English. A synopsis of the light novel reads:
The story follows the poor detective Sousuke Kaburaya who meets Sara, a princess from another world who wields magic. Sosuke gradually begins living with Sara, though she adapts to modern-day Japan quickly. Meanwhile. the female knight Livia, who transferred after Sara, lives as a homeless person but enjoys surprisingly enjoyable days. These two have a profound influence on Sousuke and other eccentrics living in the land.
