Hikari no Ou is a novel series written by Rieko Hinata and illustrated by Akihiro Yamada. Holp Shuppan has published four volumes since December 2018 with the newest one coming out on September 3, 2020. The synopsis is as follows:
A fire hunter runs through the black forest set in the world after the final war of mankind. The land is now covered with black forests, and people have bodies that ignite whenever they are close to fire due to an igniting pathogen that was used as a weapon.
The fire hunters wield crescent scythes to fight the fire demons and obtain the only fire that can be safely handled by humans. In recent years, there has been a rumor whispered among them: the fire hunter who catches the thousand-year old comet will be called the king of fire hunters. When the fates of 11-year-old Touko and 15-year-old Kouji intersect, the story begins to unfold.
