Junji Ito Maniac and Fortnite Deliver Belated Halloween Experience

A creative map inspired by the Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre anime is now available in the popular online video game Fortnite. The map was created by Neighbor Metaverse Studios and it features some of Junji Ito’s popular stories.

Fortnite players can now play around in several customized maps, which are derived from multiple stories covered in the new anime. The stories inlcude Hanging Balloon, Tomie Photo, Soichi’s Beloved Pet, Tomb Town, and Headless Statue. You can check out other images from the map campaign here:

Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre has been streaming exclusively on Netflix on January 19, 2022, and is composed of 12 episodes. The original net animation adapts several stories by Junji Ito, including Ice Cream Truck and Library Vision. 

The series is the newest addition to the growing collection of Junji Ito’s works that have been animated. In 2018, Junji Ito “Collection” aired during the Winter anime season and was animated by Studio DEEN. Uzumaki is also being adapted into an anime, but the release date is still unknown. Junji Ito is known for his horror manga titles such as Uzumaki: Spiral Into Horror, Gyo, Tomie, The Enigma of Amigara Fault, and Remina.
