Kyoto Animation Online Memorial Event this July 18

On the 2nd anniversary of the 2019 attack, Kyoto Animation will be having an online memorial event to be held this July 18. The company originally planned to set up a place for everyone to mourn, but due to the ongoing pandemic, they’ve decided to stream a memorial event through their official YouTube channel.

The online memorial event will be streaming on Sunday, July 18, 2021, at 10:30 AM (JST, GMT+9). In addition, there will be a solemn silence during the memorial event at 10:35 (JST, GMT+9) to pay respects. The video will be available all day on July 18 even after the stream has ended.

Kyoto Animation also reminds everyone to refrain from visiting the site of their first studio located in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto, Japan.

Kyoto Animation Arson Attack

On the morning of Thursday, July 18, 2019, an arson attack occurred at Kyoto Animation’s Studio 1 facility in the Fushimi ward of Kyoto, Japan. It is one of Japan’s deadliest massacres since World War II ended, and it is the first time a massacre has occurred at a studio associated with an entertainment firm.

Kyoto Animation Productions

Despite the said arson attack, Kyoto Animation yearned to bring happiness to everyone through quality entertainment. The company continued producing heart-warming anime series including Violet Evergarden the Movie and Sound! Euphonium The Movie – Our Promise: A Brand New Day.

Moreover, Kyoto Animation will be premiering Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S (their first TV anime since the attack), and Free! The Final Stroke this 2021. Let us all continue to support the wonderful works given to us by Kyoto Animation!
