Toshihiro Kikuchi, known for his extensive work as an animation director, is directing Giji Harem. Yuko Kakihara (OrangeCells at Work) is handling the series composition and Yoshihisa Sato is in charge of the character designs. The previously announced cast members include Nobuhiko Okamoto as Eiji Kitahama and Saori Hayami as Rin Nanakura.

The Giji Harem anime adaptation was first announced in April 2023. It is based on a manga series written and illustrated by Yu Saito. It was originally posted as a webcomic on Saito’s Twitter account from June 2018 to March 2021 but was later serialized in Shogakukan’s Monthly Shonen Sunday from January 2019 to March 2021. The manga concluded with chapter 157 and released a total of six printed volumes.

The series follows the story of Eiji, a second-year high school student and a member of his school’s drama club as a stagehand. During his drama club stint, he meets Rin, a first-year high school student and a member of the same drama club. It is worth noting that Eiji longs for a manga-like harem, while Rin ends up playing the “character” of Eiji’s harem fantasy.
