Mieruko-chan Episode 11: The Truth About Zen Toono

Miko finally learned the whole truth about Zen Toono in episode 11 of Mieruko-chan anime. First, a gentle reminder to all readers, don’t judge a book by its cover. Making a hasty decision just because you think you’re right may lead to an accident, just like what happened to Miko and Zen Toono in this episode.

Zen Toono’s first appearance in episode 2 did a good job presenting him as the bad guy. Sinister smile and overall creepy aura, combined with the fact that the cat spirits that were following him were angry. Even in his next appearance in episode 8, he looked like he was up to no good. All the subsequent episodes until episode 10 were also good at making Zen Toono look like an unpleasant person. But episode 11 showed a different side of him. Saving a cat proved that he was basically just misunderstood.

Zen Toono’s Past

Sadly, while saving the cat Zen Toono got hit by a car and ended up in the hospital. Luckily the injuries weren’t too bad and Miko got to reflect on her actions towards him. We got to learn about his mother, who was a very cruel woman. Punishing his pets for his perceived mistakes was her go-to action. The ghost that keeps following Zen Toono is actually her and the cat spirits are after her, not him. Since the spirits that follow him are also affecting Hana, Miko decides to save him.

Zen Toono is now free and he won’t cause any trouble for Hana anymore. But, Miko’s contract with the shrine spirits is now also over since according to her deductions, they were only going to come to her aid three times. The question is what is going to happen next now that their protection is gone? Is there a consequence Miko must pay for? Synopsis

A normal girl was living a normal life until she wasn’t.

One day, she could see…everything. What’s a girl to do when hideous monsters appear no matter which way she turns?

And on top of that, nobody else can see them! Obviously, there’s only one thing that makes sense-ignore them.

Kinda hard to put theory into practice, though, when the ghosts know she’s watching…
