Miko’s mother’s birthday is nearing in episode 8 of Mieruko-chan, so Miko and Kyosuke go shopping to buy a present. However, things don’t exactly go as planned.
Warning: This Section Might Contain Spoilers.
Changing your clothes inside while being watched by a ghost must be really scary. The ghost even tells Miko that she looks good in the dress that is supposed to be the birthday present to their mother. As a result, Miko just buys the dress and quickly leaves the store while wearing it.
The ghost in this episode was wearing formal clothes, so I have a feeling that she was a saleslady while she was still alive. It seems like the ghosts who can’t still move on to the afterlife stick to the places they love and they have grown used to. Well, this ghost at least looked harmless and was supportive in a way.
It was already made clear in the previous episodes that not all ghosts are bad, even if they have grotesque appearances. In episode 8 of Mieruko-chan, there’s a scene where Miko and Hana are escorting their pregnant teacher. While at it, Miko sees a small ghost that keeps going to their teacher’s belly. The teacher mentions that she lost her first baby and it soon becomes obvious who the ghost actually is.
Episode 8 of Mieruko-chan is really full of families faces from the early episodes of the anime. We were able to see Kyosuke and her mother after a series of “Going out of house” episodes. Not only that, but we did see the man who tried to get the lost cat from Miko and Hana in episode 3 of the show. He finally introduced himself this time and he is Zen Toono. It seems that we will be able to see him more often from now on because he is the substitute teacher for the pregnant one.
Well, things are really starting to become a bit deeper in Mieruko-chan. If you are curious about the story of the cat ghosts that linger around Zen Toono, episode 9 of Mieruko-chan will air on November 28, 2021, and you can watch it on Funimation. And if the struggles of the ghosts managed to reach your hearts in episode 8 of Mieruko-chan, you can vote for the anime on our weekly poll.
A normal girl was living a normal life-until she wasn’t.
One day, she could see…everything. What’s a girl to do when hideous monsters appear no matter which way she turns?
And on top of that, nobody else can see them!Obviously, there’s only one thing that makes sense-ignore them.
Kinda hard to put theory into practice, though, whenthe ghosts know she’s watching…Yen Press
