Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 Reveals Opening, October 5 Premiere

Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 revealed the opening which features the theme song titled “1” by MOB CHOIR. The third season of the anime had its world premiere this weekend at the Crunchyroll Expo 2022 and the opening revealed was teased on the anime’s official Twitter beforehand.

MOB CHOIR consists of various singers, including sana from sajou no hana, but also the character designer Yoshimichi Kameda (who participated in the first season’s opening theme song as well). The opening of Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 was initially revealed to this year’s Anime Expo visitors, but it wasn’t made available to the public. A key visual, which will be the last one for the anime, was unveiled at the time.

Season 3 of Mob Psycho 100 will be directed by Takahiro Hasui and animated by studio BONES. Hiroshi Seko is in charge of series composition, with Yoshimichi Kameda once again doing character designs. Kenji Kawai is composing the music. According to studio Bones president Masahiko Minami, this season won’t contain CGI and will be entirely hand-drawn.

Mob Psycho 100 is based on a manga by ONE, who is also known as the author of One Punch Man. It started serialization in Ura Sunday magazine in 2012. The manga ended in 2017, after 101 chapters (16 volumes). A spin-off series Mob Psycho 100: Reigen was serialized from 2018 to 2019.

The first season of the Mob Psycho 100 anime, by studio BONES, aired in the Summer of 2016. The second season followed in 2019. The franchise also has a side-story titled Mob Psycho 100 II: The First Spirits and Such Company Trip – A Journey that Mends the Heart and Heals the Soul, as well as a Mob Psycho Mini omake and a recap episode titled Mob Psycho 100 Reigen: The Miraculous Unknown Psychic.

Dark Horse licensed the manga for the English market and describes the plot as:
Do you or someone you know need an exorcist who works cheap? Reigen’s your guy! What’s his secret to busting ghosts while keeping prices low? Well, first, he’s a fraud, and second, he pays the guy who’s got the real psychic power—his student assistant Shigeo—less than minimum wage. Shigeo is an awkward but kind boy whose urge to help others and get along with them is bound up with the mental safety locks he’s placed on his own emotions. Reigen knows he needs to exploit Shigeo to stay in business, yet for better or worse he’s also his mentor and counselor. And he also knows whenever the normally repressed kid’s emotions reach level 100, it may unleash more psychic energy than either of them can handle!
