My Dress-Up Darling and Ranking of Kings are getting Hindi dubs on Crunchyroll, the first of their kind on the streaming platform. The announcement comes after the anime streaming service announced lowering subscription prices in more than 100 territories it is currently servicing.
It should be recalled that the aforementioned titles also received Italian dub releases, alongside the first season of The Rising of the Shield Hero. No details have been announced at the moment of the cast for the Hindi dubs.
“There is a massive appetite for anime in India with a growing number of fans who are craving more of what they love. Our team has worked hard to expand our service – including more content and more dubs, at a more affordable price.”
Statement from Rahul Purini, President of Crunchyroll; regarding the new price announcements and announcement of Hindi dubs
In India, the Mega Fan membership tier will change from 9.99 USD to 99 Indian rupees, following the news about lowered pricing. Crunchyroll hopes that more Hindi dubs will be rolled out in the near future. At the moment, Crunchyroll in India has 5,500 episodes of anime, with 1,000 hours available in English dubs. The new subscription pricing comes a few months after changes were made to the ‘freemium’ watching model that previously allowed users to follow seasonals for free – with ads and with a one-week delay.
Crunchyroll has recently integrated streaming platforms Funimation and Wakanim under its brand. Crunchyroll was acquired by Sony’s Funimation in August 2021. Currently, they are one of the largest anime streaming platforms in the world, and aside from Hindi dubs, Crunchyroll offers other language dubs, including German, Portuguese, French, Spanish, and Russian.
