The anime series, also known as “Oregairu,” aired for a total of three seasons (2013, 2015, 2020). The upcoming OVA will wrap up the final season (My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU Climax) same as the previous two seasons. Studio Brain’s Base handled the animation production for the first season until the series was handed over to studio feel. for the second and third seasons. No announcement has been made yet on where fans will be able to watch the new My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU OVA.

The anime is based on the light novel series written by Wataru Watari and illustrated by Ponkan8. My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong, As I Expected was serialization between 2011 and 2021 under Gagaga Bunko and released a total of 14 volumes that also include 4 short story collections. A manga adaptation titled My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong, as I Expected @comic” first began publishing in 2013 and released a total of 22 volumes.

Yen Press is releasing both the light novel and manga in English and describes the series as such:
Hachiman Hikigaya is a cynic. “Youth” is a crock, he believes–a sucker’s game, an illusion woven from failure and hypocrisy. But when he turns in an essay for a school assignment espousing this view, he’s sentenced to work in the Service Club, an organization dedicated to helping students with problems in their lives! How will Hachiman the Cynic cope with a job that requires–gasp!–optimism?
