Hours after the anime announcement NieR: Automata is trending on Twitter in the United States with over 189 thousand tweets. The TV anime was announced earlier today during a special 5th-anniversary stream for the game, which was released in 2017.
While the details about the adaptation aren’t yet known, we do know that Aniplex is producing it. An announcement teaser trailer was revealed along with a special visual.
During the stream, new merch for the game was also announced along with new OST releases, Voice of Cards game, and more. The game is also collaborating with Babylon Fall.
NieR: Automata is an action role-playing game originally released in 2017 by PlatinumGames (developer) and Square Enix (publisher). In 2021 a remake version of the game, titled Replicant ver.1.22474487139., was released. NieR games are a part of Yoko Taro’s Drakengard universe. Creative director Yoko Taro, game producer Yosuke Saito, designer Takahisa Taura (who supervised Automata), made appearances during the special stream, along with Keiichi Okabe, who is one of the music composers on the game.
