The anticipated episode 990 of One Piece is now available, and we finally got to see Yamato in action! The official YouTube channel had previously confirmed Saori Hayami to voice the character. The article talks about the episode, which means spoilers ahead for anyone who hasn’t seen it. The episode started with Kanjuro bringing Momonosuke over to Orochi, who still doesn’t know his plan failed. He praises the traitor for good work, and has his celebratory mood.
However, Kanjuro does break the news, which completely change the atmosphere and Orochi finally realizes the Akazaya Nine are still alive, along with the Straw Hats and co. As Usopp and Chopper struggle against Big Mom, the focus this episode is on Luffy, as well as Yamato, who we see running around from pretty early on. Luffy encounters 2 of the Tobiroppo, the sibling pair of Ulti and Page One.
I find the duo’s dynamic fun, and they’re obviously strong. Luffy exchanges headbutts with Ulti and is thrown back, but his Haki makes them both transform and bring their guard up. They acknowledge him as a strong enemy, and the fight gets more serious. Luffy manages to outmaneuver them both, using Ulti’s horns to throw her and then Elephant Gun to knock back Page One. This angers Ulti and causes her to transform into her dinosaur form, managing to catch Luffy and have him in a bad position. He’s about to go Gear 4, when we finally see what we’ve been waiting for. Yamato.
Yamato one shots Ulti with Thunder Bagua, saving Luffy and grabbing him to run away. Hayami Saori’s voice seems perfect for Kaido’s son, who shows excitement for meeting Luffy and says he/she’s been waiting for him for long. Luffy is surprised to hear about the Kaido’s son part, but he’s already aware he’s not in danger. Yamato is a favorite to many manga readers. And it looks like anime fans will be joining them very soon!
Episode 990 was just an introduction to Yamato, and we’re yet to see the beautiful face that was already shown in the 4th WE ARE ONE One Piece scene. The anime is getting to the insanely good part, and every fan must be excited to see it happen!
