AYAKA, an original anime from GoRa (K) and King Records, revealed a character trailer featuring Yukito Yanagi and Jingi Sagawa, as well as information on the theme songs. The anime will be directed by Nobuyoshi Nagayama, and is set to air this year.
Yuto Uemura (Bungo Stray Dogs, The Ancient Magus Bride, Darling in the Franxx) is voicing Yukito Yanagi while Takuma Terashima (Bleach, Durarara!!, Wotakoi: Love is Hard of Otaku) is voicing Jingi. Other cast members include Takahiro Sakurai (Code Geass, Final Fantasy VII) as Haruaki Kurama and Yuichiro Umehara (Black Clover, Goblin Slayer) as Aka Ibuki. The theme songs are “AYAKASHI” by angela as the opening theme song and “Flashback” by saji as the ending theme song.
GoRa is responsible for the series composition. Meanwhile, Misaki Kaneko is doing the character designs, based on the original by Redjuice. Kana Shibue is responsible for the music, while Ryo Tanaka is responsible for the sound direction.
AYAKA will be animated by Studio Blanc, which previously worked on titles such as Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan and The Reincarnation of the Strongest Exorcist in Another World. Crunchyroll announced that it will be streaming the anime outside of Japan. The streaming platform describes the plot as:
The story follows Yukito Yanagi, an orphan who one day encounters an eccentric disciple of his father’s. The strange man takes him to his birthplace on Ayakajima, made up of seven islands where mysterious beings called “Mitama” and dragons are rumored to reside. There, Yukito meets his father’s two other disciples, who protect the harmony of Ayakajima… which soon threatens to collapse.
