The Plus-Sized Elf manga series is getting an anime adaptation this year, as announced earlier with a teaser visual. Further details on the production haven’t been announced. Ayasa Ito will be voicing the titular elf and her comment is now available:
When I heard the title, I felt a strong sense of mission. That’s because I’m a lifelong dieter and Ito-san can’t lose weight either! I empathized with Elfuda, who bravely tries to diet but cannot resist the temptation of food. I definitely want to be involved in this work…! That’s what I went into the audition for, so I’m really happy that I was able to get the role.
If you watch this anime, you might end up eating a lot of fries when you realize that it’s supposed to be good for your health and diet…!? I would be happy if you could fall in love with its healthy charm!
The anime will adapt Synecdoche’s Plus-Sized Elf (Elf-san wa Yaserarenai.) manga, which was originally serialized on Wani Books’ Comic Gum website from 2016 to 2021 with a total of 47 chapters, compiled into 8 volumes. A sequel, Plus-Sized Elf: Second Helping! is currently being serialized in Akita Shonen’s Dokodemo Young Champion. Two volumes are out.
Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga and describes the plot as:
Naoe-kun, a massage therapist, is about to head home for the day when he’s saddled with a rather strange patient. This lovely lady has emerald eyes, pointy ears, and grew up in the forest–everything about her screams “elf,” except for one thing: her bodacious body. It turns out she left her world but loves junk food in this one, and now her obsession has caught up with her. Can Naoe-kun help this lovable elf girl lose the weight–and keep it off?
Synecdoche drew a celebratory comic, in which two main characters celebrate the anime announcement:
