Ranking of Kings is getting new anime project titled Ranking of Kings: Treasure Chest of Courage, as announced by the official Twitter account for the franchise. WIT Studio in charge of the production, and the new anime is set to premiere in 2023. It will show an untold “story of courage” featuring Bojji, Kage and their friends. Ranking of Kings, or Ousama Ranking, is originally a Japanese web manga series by Sousuke Touka. It was first serialized online via Echoes’ user-submitted Manga Hack website in May 2017, and it is still ongoing. Enterbrain publishes the print tankobon volumes. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime adaptation, and they describe the story:
How prosperous your nation is, how many powerful warriors it boasts, and how heroic and strong its king is. These are the criteria that factor into the system known as the Ranking of Kings. The main character, Bojji, was born the first prince of the kingdom ruled by King Bossu, who is ranked number seven. But Bojji was born unable to hear and is so powerless that he can’t even swing a sword. In consequence, his own retainers and the public, look down upon him as completely unfit to be king. It is then that Bojji finds his first friend, Kage, and Bojji’s life takes a dramatic turn…
