The ‘hidden gem’ anime of Fall 2021 that’s deservedly already catching a lot of attention also has an awesome opening theme. Titled “BOY” and performed by King Gnu, the music video for the Ranking of Kings anime opening hit 2 million views on YouTube in under 3 days! It was uploaded on October 15 and hit the milestone on October 18. It currently sits at around 2.16 million views, and you can watch it below:
It fits the anime perfectly, and it’s one of those openings you just can’t skip! Bojji’s adventure will surely not be easy, but it already seems like it will be a great anime to follow. It will have 23 episodes, with the first one released on Friday, October 15. Funimation streams the show, and the story for it:
The story centers around Bojji, a deaf, powerless prince who cannot even wield a children’s sword, and so as the firstborn son, he strives hard and dreams of becoming the world’s greatest king. However, people mutter about him behind his back as “a good-for-nothing prince” and “no way he can be king.”
Bojji is able to make his first ever friend, “Kage” (shadow)—a literal shadow on the ground who somehow understands Bojji well. (Kage is a survivor of the Kage assassin clan that was all but wiped out. Since no longer a killer, Kage now makes ends meet by stealing.) The story follows Bojji’s coming-of-age as he meets various people in his life, starting with his fateful encounter with Kage.
Episode 2 of the Ranking of Kings anime will premiere next Friday on October 22nd. Since it released on the same day as our poll closed, it didn’t get the chance to rank in week 2, but you can vote for it until this Friday and help Bojji rank in the top 10 for week 3!
Besides being animated by WIT Studio and the awesome opening by King Gnu, Ranking of Kings also has a precious main character with a lot of interesting cast that’s yet to be introduced. With only 1 episode out so far, there’s no reason not to give it a shot.
