SK8 the Infinity, the highly popular anime from studio BONES, announced a new project on the series’ official Twitter account. More information will be available on the official website at a later time.
The announcement for the new SK8 anime project initially came during the SK8 Masquerade of Love event. However, the Twitter account confirmed the information right after:
While the exact format is still unknown, many fans took to Twitter and expressed their hopes for season 2. SK8 the Inifinity originally aired during Winter 2021 season and had 12 episodes. Hiroko Utsumi directed the anime and is also credited as the original creator. Ichirou Okouchi wrote the screenplay, while Ryou Takahashi composed the music.
Chiaki Kobayashi and Tasuku Hatanaka star as main characters, Langa and Reki. In addition, Kensho Ono, Takehito Koyasu and Miyake Kenta also star in the series.
Funimation licensed, and later dubbed the anime. They describe the plot as:
[High school students Reki and Langa are hooked on one thing—a dangerous, top secret, no-holds-barred downhill skateboarding race called “S.” When Reki takes Langa, a transfer student, to the mountain where “S” is held, Langa finds himself sucked in. These colorful skaters will take you through a thrilling story of skateboard battles and unlimited possibilities!
The new anime project wasn’t the only announcement for SK8 the Infinity today. Two stage plays are also coming – the first one in December and the second one in January.
