“That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime” episode 40 is out! Now that the important meeting is over, everyone can finally relax a bit. Sort of. Remember how in the end Ramiris didn’t explain her warning? Well, the fairy finally tells Rimuru what’s really happening — Walpurgis is coming! The Demon Lord Banquet is about to happen in three days to hear Clayman’s complaint about the deceitful slime in Jura Forest. And thus, the serious discussions continue in a laid-back style as everyone hits the hot springs and wears their Yukata. The episode is titled, “The Congress Dances.”
In summary, Walpurgis is a tea party among Demon Lords where they discuss both urgent reports and amusing topics. This time, however, they’ll be discussing the new Demon Lord —Rimuru! In addition, Clayman also insists on Demon Lord Carrion’s betrayal and Rimuru’s murder of Mjurran.
As expected, Detective Ramiris puts together that Clayman is the bad guy. This cheerful fairy announces that she sides with Rimuru. She’ll also be making her labyrinth inside Tempest, which sounds really interesting. Another one of my favorites in this episode is the appearance of Beretta, the golem that Rimuru created back in Season 1. She’s an interesting character and it’s wholesome to see her interactions with Ramiris. It’s also adorable how the Dryads are pampering the Fairy Queen a lot.
Honestly, one main reason why I love this anime so much is that Tempest looks like such an amazing place to live in. “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime” episode 40 reminds us all that there are relaxing hot springs and delicious food in this monster country. In addition, everyone wears a yukata! It really looks so comfortable. The meeting continues as their Japanese-style dinner begins.
I certainly was taken aback by how the prisoners were “censored.” Seriously, what “interrogation” did Shion do!? I feel sorry for them, but at the same time, nah. Ha-ha! We learn that a merchant brought some silk to Falmuth, triggering the King’s greed and fear of losing economic value. The Holy Western Church’s influence also motivates them to rid of all evil monsters. Thus, Falmuth waging war on Tempest. On another note, isn’t Shion’s struggle with names just fun to watch?
We also discover that Razen (not Ramen) is actually the very powerful Majin of Falmuth. And yup, Diablo beat him just like that! I think Diablo is a bit hurt that he doesn’t get to be near Rimuru in this war against Clayman. However, I also think that this new responsibility might motivate him to finish it quickly. Oh, the terror that awaits Falmuth.
“That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime” episode 40 ends as we discover some major news. With the help of Raphael, Rimuru finally realizes Clayman’s true motive. It’s not Tempest that he plans to destroy, but the Beast Kindom, Eurazania! Clayman plans to become a true demon lord by killing all of the refugees. The Beasketeers become furious. Clayman is definitely an evil scheming villain.
The war against Clayman is also happening sooner than expected! It’s looking to be an eventful three days as Walpurgis and Clayman’s war happens altogether. The plot thickens! I look forward to seeing the Demon Lord Rimuru in action.
All these story developments unfold with such suspense! Hands down, it’s all very exciting — a battle of wits, tactics, and strategy! There’ll definitely be some epic action coming soon in the next episodes. It’s certainly amazing how all the allies are so friendly and supportive to Rimuru. I felt goosebumps when Fuze, Gazel, and Elalude confidently announce how they will shake the Holy Western Church’s opinion of Tempest. It’s super epic.
Aside from the serious and mind-boggling things in this episode, it also feels “fluffy” because of Veldora and Ramiris’ presence. They’re Manga buddies now, too. The way they enjoyed the Manga, hot springs, and food was really fun to watch. I honestly couldn’t help but want to open a cup of noodles myself after watching their dinner.
Episode 41 is titled “The Eve of Battle” airs on Tuesday, August 3 at 11:00 PM (JST). It will also be available to watch on Crunchyroll and Muse Asia in select regions.
