The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World is getting a TV anime project, set for January 2023 premiere. The production details of the light novel adaptation have not been revealed yet.
The information about The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World anime was initially shared on Kodansha’s website, in a post written by Shoji Satoshi, who is the editor for the work. The Iceblade Sorcerer light novel was written by Nana Mikoshiba and illustrated by Riko Korie. Korie is an artist best known for her Alice or Alice manga, which received an anime adaptation by studio EMT Squared in 2018.
The story was originally started published in 2019 on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website, which allows writers to post their content. Kodansha later picked it up and has been serializing it in their Kodansha Lanove Bunko imprint since July of 2020. A manga adaptation of the work by Norihito Sasaki has been ongoing in Magazine Pocket since June 2019. While the light novel currently has 4 volumes out, the manga has 7.
Kodansha US licensed the manga and describes the plot as:
The Arnold Academy of Magic is a school for the elite…and Ray White is just your ordinary guy. In fact, he doesn’t seem particularly skilled with magic at all, and is a bit of a klutz. Which is why he has nothing to do with the rumor that one of the great magicians, the Iceblade Sorcerer, is a member of the incoming class…right?
