The Legendary Hero Is Dead revealed a trailer and a key visual during today’s special program. The anime is scheduled for April 2023 premiere. The stream is still ongoing on Pony Canyon’s channel:
The main cast for The Legendary Hero Is Dead includes Shunichi Toki, who is voicing Sion Braiden, and Wataru Kato as Touka. Ayana Taketatsu (Anri), Yurika Kubo (Marguerite), and Hibiku Yamamura (Yuna) are also a part of the cast. Rion Kujo (Time Travel Girl: Mari & Waka, Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero) is directing the anime. The anime was announced in April of this year and it recently revealed a visual for Knee Socks Day in Japan. LIDEN FILMS is animating the series.
The anime is based on a manga by Subaruichi that has been serialized from 2014 to 2020. It has 202 chapters, compiled into 19 volumes. Shogakukan Asia describes the plot as:
Touka is just your average (slightly perverted) farmer in the village of Cheza. While he daydreams about being a hero and getting the girl, the real hero, Sion, is out battling demons that threaten to invade the world! But one day, Touka accidentally kills the hero…?! With the Legendary Hero dead, who’s going to save the world now?! Touka quickly buries Sion’s body to hide the evidence, but wakes up the next day to discover he is no longer in his own body…!!
