The Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again Today manga by Hitsuzi Yamada is getting an anime adaptation. The release date has been set for 2023, but no studio or cast information has been revealed yet. A visual for the anime is, however, now available:
The Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again Today author tweeted about the upcoming adaptation stating that the anime was still a long way off but thanking everyone for their support. Yamada also posted a special illustration:
The manga began serialization on Suiyobi no Sirius online platform in August 2018. In October 2021 it started serialization in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine. It currently has 5 volumes and over 80 chapters.
Seven Seas Entertainment licensed The Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again Today manga in English. Four volumes have been translated, with the most recent one being released on May 24. The fifth is scheduled for September 6, 2022 release. Seven Seas describes the plot as:
A sweetly comedic manga about a cat who cooks, cleans, and succeeds at adulting more than the woman who expected him to be a pet!
Saku is an ordinary young woman who works long hours and lives alone with her cat, Yukichi. Yukichi, however, is not an ordinary house cat. For one, the temperamental feline towers over Saku and walks around on two legs. Instead of playing with toy mice, he scours supermarket flyers for good deals and keeps the house spotless. With a pet like that, it’s hard to tell who’s taking care of who!
